Bjarne's new book: Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++. Like its predecessors, the fourth edition uses clear, straightforward examples to teach both the syntax of the C++ language and sound programming principles. At 1200 pages, it will keep you busy for a while. I've read some of this one but there may be better beginner books. Here is a really good introduction to C++, written by the original designer of C++. I am stunned on many levels, so I will keep my comments short.
